The process begun with articulating one room kitchen space as a continuum and integrate different functions within it. Despite that, degrees of intimacies were thought through the overal layout and materiality.
This was accomplished by
1. Demolition of partition walls between kitchen and living, bathroom, powder room to establish a continuous space
2. Creating single access to outdoor space from living area
3. Reorganising the bathroom and powder room to form a walkin and washoom. The intent of the walk-in was to free up storage space in the living and keep it more open.
Beading patti adds levels to an otherwise flat surface and flushes the door that leads to walk-in and washroom.

The washroom is planned such that the basin in the centre separates dry and wet area. 2x4 ft concrete tiles in beige are used as flooring and dado.

The walkin is designed as a membrane that comprises of 2 wardrobes, overhead storage and a dresser finished with tinted mirror to make the space feel large and less compact.
The same membrane folds to become a storage 9 ft high in the kitchen area to store big vessels and utensils. A folding table works as a small eating place and enables an open kitchen.
The kitchen cabinets are made in ply finished with PU paint to continue the visual language used in the living space.
Overall, the intent was to add warmth of wooden furniture to a muted backdrop of olive green paint finish which also continues in the kitchen area.
