-DO Come warmed up and ready to tee off. We do NOT have access to the range at most of our courses.

-Parents/Galleries ARE NOT PERMITTED on the course or Club grounds. Parents please wait in their cars in the parking lots. We also ask parents who are members of our courses to follow these same rules.

– Range finders and pull/push carts ARE permitted (Non-GPS ONLY)

-Do NOT arrive more than 30 minutes before our scheduled tee time, unless otherwise noted. DO wait in the parking lot for either Coach Drake or Coach Joe to arrive. IF YOU ARE ON THE COURSE, CLUB GROUNDS, OR PUTTING GREEN BEFORE A COACH ARRIVES YOU WILL BE CUT FROM THE TEAM ON THE SPOT.

Galleries are NOT permitted at the on-course tryouts. Parents, guardians, siblings are not to go be on the grounds of the Clubs where the tryouts are taking place other than to drop off or pick up their golfer.

We'd like to give a huge "Thank You" to all the girls who came out to range try out this year. This was by far the most talented group we have seen in many years.  As we have very limited course access this year we had to make some tough decisions on who gets to move on to the on-course phase. If you did not make it, please keep up your hard work, keep practicing and we hope to see you out there next year.

What: The range tryout if only for new potential players to the TPHS Golf Program.  During the tryout golfers will be asked to hit a variety of shots with nearly every club in their bag.  Golfers will be evaluated on accuracy, distance, and consistency during this tryout. 2023 TPHS Girl’s Golf Tryout Procedures

TPHS Girl’s Golf program will have a  Varsity Golf  and possibly a JV Team this season.. However due to limits on course times and availability there will be cuts.

TO MAKE THE TPHS VARSITY GIRLS GOLF TEAM YOU SHOULD:

-Be an experienced golfer.  

-Have a working knowledge of the Rules of Golf. 

-Be confident hitting a variety of shots with a variety of clubs.

-Have an average score of under 50 for 9-holes on a regulation golf course.

Voluntary Returner Practice at Rancho Santa Fe Tuesday @ 3:00 PM (Only if you have a free 7th period) 

Tuesday :

We have the course on this day and will open it up to any player who has a free 7th period and wants to get a practice round in. Please contact Coach Drake before Monday if you plan on attending.

  Thursday: 

Mandatory WHOLE TEAM LUNCH MEETING in Room 52. This will be our first lunch meting of the season. Please be prompt. 

MANDATROY PLAYER/PARENT Meeting @ 6:00PM in the Lecture Hall. All players and a parent or guardian must be in attendance.

On-Course Tryout:  Golfers who make it off of the range will be invited to play in anon course tryout. This tryout will take place at courses that will be announced on Saturday, August 13 Golfers do NOT get to choose their try out dates, times or groups, and failure to show up for your assigned tee time will result in an automatic cut from the program.  Cuts will be made after the range tryout and following on-course tryouts.

Galleries are NOT permitted at the on-course tryouts. Parents, guardians, siblings are not to go be on the grounds of the Clubs where the tryouts are taking place other than to drop off or pick up their golfer.

Voluntary Pre-Tryout Practice Round Information 

When: Monday August 8 @ 2:00PM 

Where: Fairbanks Ranch CC 

-Please do NOT Arrive at the course before 1:30PM (even if you are a member) 

-The Course is Closed on Monday so there will be no Clubhouse access. When entering the course grounds turn left at the clubhouse and park/drop off on the left/west side of the clubhouse. We will meet on the putting green. 

-There is NO RANGE ACCESS at Fairbanks  

-Please review ALL TRYOUT PROCEDURES BEFORE ARRIVING (Dress Code/Galleries on the courses, etc...)

TPHS Girl’s Golf program will, for the first time, be running two Varsity Golf squads this season. This allows us to provide more opportunities for players to participate. However, due to limits on course times and availability, there may be cuts.

Tryout Dates and Times

• Range Tryout:

SATURDAY, AUGUST 14,  8:15A M-10:30 AM at the Del Mar Golf Center (http://www.delmargolfcenter.com/)

Only golfers who were not part of the program during the Spring 2021 season are required to attend the range tryout.

Golfers will be assigned a specific time to arrive at the driving range.  See the team website  for your specific time slot

• On-Course Tryouts:

Weather permitting each player who makes it to the on-course tryout should get at least 18-holes

Monday, August 16, 3:00 PM Course TBA: New Players who make it off the range and Returners.

Wednesday, August 18,  4:00PM Course TBA (9-Holes): 

Your specific tee time and course will be posted on the team blog on WITHIN 2 HOURS OF THE RANGE TRYOUT CONCLUDING 

For all Tryouts:

-Please be respectful of our courses.

-DO Dive slowly and safely on and near club grounds.

-DO NOT go into the Clubhouse or Pro Shop

-Come dressed appropriately in appropriate golf attire.

-Shirts tucked in

-Hats facing forward

-No cargo shorts,  jeans, yoga pants, or sweat pants 

-DO NOT get dressed or put on your shoes in the parking lot of our courses

-DO Come warmed up and ready to tee off. We do NOT have access to the range at most of our courses.

-Parents/Galleries ARE NOT PERMITTED on the course or Club grounds. Parents please wait in their cars in the parking lots. Wed also ask parents who are members of our courses to follow these same rules.

– Range finders and pull/push carts ARE permitted (Non-GPS ONLY)

-Do NOT arrive more than 30 minutes before our scheduled tee time, unless otherwise noted. DO wait in the parking lot for Coach Drake  to arrive. IF YOU ARE ON THE COURSE, CLUB GROUNDS, OR PUTTING GREEN BEFORE A COACH ARRIVES YOU WILL BE CUT FROM THE TEAM ON THE SPOT.

-You may not leave school early to warm up or practice before a tryout. Unless instructed by the coaches to do so an early release from class will be issued.

-SDUHSD policy states that students may only be driven by themselves or their parents. Students may NOT drive other students to or from matches or practice.

- Early releases will be provided on the tryout days.

Tryout Procedures:

Range Tryout: All student-athletes who were not part of the team last year are required to participate in the driving range tryout.  Golfers will be evaluated on over-all swing, consistency, accuracy with a variety of clubs and distances, chipping, and putting.  Cuts will be made following the range tryout.

On-Course Tryout: Up to 16 total golfers will be invited to play in a 2-day initial on course tryout. This tryout will take place at courses that will be announced on Saturday, August 14, . The dates for the course tryout will be Monday, August 16- Thursday, August 19.  All tee times will be at approximately  3:00 PM for 9-hole rounds. Golfers do NOT get to choose their try out dates, times or groups, and failure to show up for your assigned tee time will result in an automatic cut from the program.  Cuts will be made after the range tryout and following on-course tryouts.

Galleries are NOT permitted at the on-course tryouts. Parents, guardians, siblings are not to go be on the grounds of the Clubs where the tryouts are taking place other than to drop off or pick up their golfer.

We will be holding a pre-tryout practice for anyone who is interested on Wednesday August 11 @ 4:00PM  on the Legends course at La Costa.  This is an entirely OPTIONAL practice.  We have room for 12 players  at the practice, so please text Coach Drake (858 345-0824) if you plan on attending.  

If you do plan on attending we will meet on the range at 3:30PM.

We will be having an  whole team optional practice Thursday February 11 at La Costa  @ 2:24 PM

Early Release will be 12:40

This practice is optional but recommended as it will be our only opportunity to practice at La Costa before our first match on 2/25.
