About Ms. Kim

Education:

I went to Earl Warren and Torrey Pines High School, so I know the community very well, it is after all where I grew up too--just like you.  After I graduated from TPHS I went to the University of California at Berkeley (Go Bears!).  From UC Berkeley I went to UC Riverside (Go Highanders!) for my masters in biology and my teaching credential program.

At UCB I majored in Integrative Biology  and minored in Spanish.  While I was at UC Berkeley I took lots of classes on plants and animals, and became interested in animal behavior.

After I graduated from Berkeley, I decided I wanted to learn more about animal behavior and evolution, so I went to UC Riverside to study for a Master's degree in Biology.  I researched the effects of parasites on Red Jungle Fowl  behavior and had he opportunity to teach the undergraduate laboratory sections for several classes.   I loved bring in the lab with students and decided to pursue teaching as a career.

I finished my masters in 1998, and even got to publish 3 times in scientific journals!  That was very exciting.  I traveled and continued teaching college labs.  I stayed at UC Riverside to get my teaching credential, and after working in the Inland Empire for a year teaching high school, I decided it was time to come back to San Diego and my home district.  And that is how you ended up with me as your science teacher!
