Class Overview
Ms. Haley's class is one of the four COAST classrooms at the Requeza Education Center through SDUHSD. COAST is an adult transition program focusing on Continuing Education/Training, Employment, Independent Living, and Social Skills. Our program includes community-based instruction (CBI) and vocational skills training at a variety of local worksites through the Workability program. Students are eligible to attend COAST if they receive special education services, did not receive a high school diploma (on track for Certificate of Completion), and are under the age of 22. COAST focuses on preparing students for life after school with an emphasis on developing independence and community involvement.
About me
I am a graduate of University of California, Santa Barbara where I obtained my B.A. in History with a minor in Educational Studies, in addition to my Masters of Education and Education Specialist Instruction Credential in Moderate/Severe disabilities. Before entering the field of education, I worked as an in-home care provider for adults with developmental disabilities.
I am most passionate about teaching students towards independence. My favorite thing about COAST is the diversity in content, lessons, and activities that naturally come with a transition program.
My fiancé and I adopted two kittens last year named Helios and Momo. We are getting married later this fall. In my free time, I like to cook, read mysteries/thrillers, play volleyball, go to hot yoga classes, watch reality tv, and travel.
