AP Computer Science Principles

AP Computer Science Principles introduces students to the foundational concepts of computer science and challenges them to explore how computing and technology can impact the world. With a unique focus on creative problem solving and real-world applications, AP Computer Science Principles prepares students for college and career. The major areas of study in the AP Computer Science Principles course are organized around seven big ideas essential to studying computer science. These big ideas are creativity, abstraction, data and information, algorithms, programming, the Internet and global impact.

AP Computer Science Principles (CSP) has been approved as a Laboratory Science (D)/Computer Science course and fulfills high school student requirements for the University of California's admissions. AP CSP counts as a student's third or fourth recommended year of science.
