I am an Encinitas native and have strong roots here at SDUHSD. I went to Diegueno Middle School and in 2006, I graduated from La Costa Canyon High School. I moved to Long Beach where I earned my Bachelor’s in Communication Studies at CSULB. I then worked with students with Autism for ten years before I decided to go back and pursue my passion in English and earn my credential at my alma mater.
I completed my student teaching in Capistrano Unified School District at Shorecliffs Middle School during COVID which was a WILD but wonderful experience. I continued to work there as a substitute teacher for the remainder of the school year while also subbing here at SDUHSD for a year and a half. Over that time, I had two long term positions at San Dieguito Academy teaching English 10 and English 12. This is my fourth year at Earl Warren and over the years I've taught English 7 Honors, English 8 Honors, English 8 College Prep and Leadership/ASB. I've loved every year at our incredible little "boutique school by the sea."
I have had the pleasure of teaching surf lessons for over 10 years both here in Encinitas and in Huntington Beach. I have a major love and respect for the ocean and have a blast sharing that knowledge with others! My joy for teaching definitely goes beyond the classroom.
My family and I live in Oceanside. We have two free and fun-loving little girls, Juniper and Jemma, a pup named Porter and six chickens. We love camping and enjoy spending our time between life here at the beach and on the family ranch in the Sequoias-think horses, chickens, cows, YEEHAW!
I love all things outdoors and sharing my passion for the arts. I can’t wait to inspire my students to enjoy connecting their own life experiences with literature through reading and writing.
