About Me

Hello, class!  My name is Mr. Zerwekh (pronounced Zer-weck), aka Mr. Z., and I teach College Prep Biology and Chemistry. 

I was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas, and graduated from Lawrence Free State High School in 2002, where I was a valedictorian and state medalist in the pole vault.  I went on to study at the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!) and earned a bachelor's degree in biology in 2006.  I moved to Southern California in 2008 and spent most of the next decade working as a wildlife biologist before deciding to go back to school to become a teacher.  In 2018, I graduated from the University of San Diego with a Master's of Education and teaching credentials in biology and chemistry.

Outside of school, I enjoy traveling, hiking, playing and watching sports, and spending time with my wife and 4-year-old son.
