Class overview

This year we will be exploring many aspects of science including Evolution, Interactions of the Sun/Earth/Moon, the Solar System, Forces and Motion, Waves, and Health. In addition to these scheduled topics, I'd love to discuss current events in science (for example, did you know that we will have 2 Solar Eclipses visible in the US during this school year?). Also, during our Journal Club presentations, you can present on current scientific topics to the class.

I'm looking forward to a year of exploration, learning, problem-solving, and fun.

About me

Hello, I'm Michael Abelmann, and I'm excited to be an 8th grade science teacher! This is my first full-year at Pacific Trails Middle School. I have a Biological Sciences degree and an MBA from UC Irvine. After college I worked in sales and marketing for a number of medical device companies in California before becoming a teacher. I'm a big baseball, football, and hockey fan. When I am not teaching I am probably working on my golf game or hanging out with my family.
