I was born in Germany, and have since lived in Vermont, Connecticut, Texas, and now California. I went to high school in Plano, Texas and was on the track and wrestling team. I completed my undergraduate work at the University of Texas in both mathematics and child/adolescent development. After completing my degree, I worked with 8-16 year-olds while leading backpacking trips in Point Reyes National Seashore and working aboard tallships in Dana Point Harbor. After teaching outside of the classroom, I taught middle school mathematics for two years in Dana Point. I then taught at Canyon Crest Academy for eight years, which included Algebra I, Geometry, Honors Geometry, Algebra II, and Honors Pre-Calculus. In 2009, I finished my masters in administration at Cal State San Marcos, with my thesis focusing on the creation of mathematics curriculum. It has been extremely exciting to return to middle school where I've been teaching at Diegueño since 2013 - Go Cougars!
