My vision of education is that I influence perceptions about science based on the content I teach and the way I present it. My aim is to also learn from the students I teach - it is through this give and take that I derive the greatest satisfaction in calling myself an educator. I strive to build personal relationships with my students and encourage them to trust and learn from one another - this fuels me with energy to come back, excited to teach each day.
I started my teaching career at Carmel Valley Middle School where I spent 9 years teaching seventh and eighth grade science. I took time away from the classroom to be at home with my young children. Now that they're bigger, I'm excited to be back in the science middle school classroom in the community where my boys go to school at Ocean Knoll Elementary. I taught 1 year at Oak Crest Middle school and this will be my first year at Diegueno, I'm so excited!
I was born and raised in Ventura and have lived in San Diego since I graduated college. Outside of teaching I love the beach, adventures with my family, traveling, camping, and reading. My family, which includes my husband, two sons, and two cats, lives in Encinitas.
