The New York Times Learning Network is an excellent tool that we will be using for writing warm-ups, allowing students to respond and interact with current events and interesting stories.
NoRedInk allows for interactive grammar instruction, turning grammar lessons into a fun and challenging game! Students will be assigned NoRedInk assignments, with a different grammatical focus for each assignment.
CommonLit is an excellent resource, allowing you to interact with a variety of different articles as you read them. While students read, they will be prompted to answer comprehension questions and make next-level connections.
Poll Everywhere is a tool that gives students a quick and easy way to share opinions, thoughts, and analysis. The technology allows every student in the classroom to provide answers to questions directly from their smartphone or Chromebook.
Flipgrid allows students to answer questions and verbally. The website or app allows students to answer questions or respond to a prompt by recording a short video of themselves and then uploading it to the class forum.
Kahoot! is a great review tool. Before a quiz, essay, or exam, Kahoot! allows students to have a fun and interactive review session. There are thousands of user-created quizzes, but I will find or make one that is most applicable to our class.
Quizlet is another study tool, although it tends to be more helpful for reviewing vocabulary and key terms. Quizlet is an online flashcard generator that also allowing students to take online quizzes to prepare for an in-class assessment.
EdPuzzle is integrated with YouTube. The site will play YouTube videos and pause at preselected moments to ask questions. The question can be either a comprehension question or a short answer analysis question.
