Purchase Policy
Make Yearbook purchases (yearbooks, senior ads, or other publications) through the Canyon Crest Academy Finance Office. A variety of payment options are available there. The yearbook staff does not handle money nor any transactions. Yearbook funds are an ASB and Finance Office controlled account and therefore subject to state audit. Further, we enforce a one-book-to-one-student policy.
Yearbook Refund Policy
Yearbook purchases may be refunded at any time prior to distribution. Once books are distributed, sales are final. Refunds will not be granted based on content or coverage. Irregular books (i.e. upside down binding, offset print, etc.) may be exchanged for a correct copy as long as supplies are available. If supplies are exhausted, a refund may be requested. Refund requests result in the surrender of the book.
Senior Ad Refund Policy
Senior Ads may be refunded at any time up until the refund deadline. The deadline is usually in November of any given school year. The refund deadline is a hard deadline as we must report our page count to the publisher in early December. Senior Ads page counts depend completely on sales. Therefore no refunds will be processed after the deadline passes.
Distribution Policy
Books are distributed to all students who purchased a book, according to our records. We obtain our list of purchased books from the Finance Office. Any discrepancies regarding a purchase or perceived purchase must be handled with the Finance Office.
Students will pick up their yearbook at the designated location (currently by the lunch tables under the overhang) on the designated day. Students must have their student ID to collect their book.
Senior Portrait Policy
All senior students wishing to be included in the senior portraits section of the yearbook must have their yearbook portrait taken by our contracted senior photographer. This contract is made between the school district and the photographer and is out of the control of the yearbook staff. We will not accept portraits submitted by any photographer other than the contracted photographer.
Underclass Portrait Policy
All underclass students (9, 10, 11) wishing to be included in the underclass portraits section of the yearbook must have their yearbook portrait taken by our contracted underclass photographer. This contract is made between the school district and the photographer and is out of the control of the yearbook staff. We will not accept portraits submitted by any photographer other than the contracted photographer.
Content and Coverage Policy
The yearbook is a permanent document that attempts to capture in text and image the events and spirit of the school year. We attempt to include as many Ravens as we can, however we can make no guarantee that any one individual or event will be included in the book in any given year. Conversely, we will only purposefully exclude those students who have a Do Not Publish document on file that specifically excludes yearbook publication. In all cases, please note that many areas of a school are considered a public space. Further, the Editorial Board make all final content decisions and do so abiding by California Education Code 48907 and SDUHSD Policy 6145.
Senior Superlatives Policy
In the event that the Editorial Board decide to include a Senior Superlatives section against the better judgment of the adviser (but within the rights of the Board), it will be done so in the spirit of fun. The Board will be directed to devise categories that celebrate effort. Polls will be conducted online with a one-vote-per-ID system (so long as CCA maintains an account). We do not consider this contest any sort of accurate reflection of student achievements or behaviors; therefore seniors may win in only one category.
Senior Quotes Policy
In the event that the Editorial Board decide to include a Senior Quotes section against the better judgment of the adviser (but within the rights of the Board), it will be done so in a manner consistent with the stated mission of the book. The Board will be directed to establish criteria for acceptable quotations with respect to the stated mission of the book, district policy, and state education code. Staff reserves the right to reject quote submissions that fail to meet our standards.
Name Change/Preferred Name Policy
Names will appear in the yearbook as supplied by the school photographer. The photographer receives names from the school registrar. Therefore, only the student's legal name will appear in print, unless the student fills out a form with the registrar by October 1 to make a legal name change, and notifies Yearbook directly.
Athletics and Club Photo Policy
Our Section Editors and Photographers will make every effort to take photos during events. It is the responsibility of Athletics and clubs to share group photos with Yearbook when possible. Due to limitations of time and staffing, we cannot make it to all events throughout the year, and therefore clubs and Athletics may be asked to share photos with Yearbook when possible. Yearbook cannot guarantee that all clubs and Athletics will be fully photographed or represented.
Contribution Policy
We accept contributions and suggestions for coverage, but do not guarantee inclusion or publication for any submissions to the yearbook or other publications. If you submit material (text, image, or sound) to any of our publications, your submission is considered to be permission to publish.
Death Policy
In the event of a student death during his or her career at CCA, the yearbook will publish free of charge a half page memorial during that school year (within the realm of possibility). We will publish such an ad only if given permission by the parents or guardians. All aspects of publication of an ad or memorial for deceased students are at the discretion of the parents or guardians.
