Hi Sunset Students, I hope this finds you well. I can't wait to hear all about how you are doing, feel free to email me to check in, amy.carlin@sduhsd.net. Complete any work you already have, you can take a picture of it and email it to me. I will also be posting a weekly assignment here for you to complete to continue your progress through whichever course you are taking.

Week 1 - March 23-27 - Complete a Research Report on any topic of your choosing. Since many of us are stuck at home, it is a good time to learn a new skill or how to do something we've been wanting to learn. My kids are learning to type through a free on-line program called typing club. I know people who are starting to play an instrument, others who are learning to sew, and the store was out of bread and tortillas so a friend is learning to make them from scratch. You need to choose something you would like to learn and that is doable in your current situation and do it, then write up your findings with the following headings/format, approximately 5 paragraphs -

1) Define - In a paragraph define what you are trying to learn and why you are choosing this topic. (1 paragraph)

2) Design - Make a bulleted list of the steps you are going to take complete the assignment. (1 list, this counts as a paragraph)

3) Research - Write a couple paragraphs about your topic; when it originated, what are the different types, where is it commonly done, anything you find interesting. (2 paragraphs)

4) Debrief - Write a paragraph describing what you learned and how it went. Mention any challenges you had, surprises, positive outcomes, etc. (1 paragraph)

I hope this can be something enjoyable you get to do over your break. Something you feel good about accomplishing!

Week 2 - March 30-April 3 - This can also take you through Spring Break. If you complete this and still have time over Spring Break, feel free to complete another novel.

To log in, your username is your firstname.lastname (like the first part of your email address). Your password is the same as your district computer password.
