Description

2021 International Young Scholars' Conference (IYSC) is an international multidisciplinary event organized by Suleyman Demirel University. Any young researcher and scientist willing to present their published or ongoing research work or ideas are welcome to apply for participation.

Young researchers willing to make a 15-minute research presentation at the conference must submit their abstract of the talk of at least 100 words.

Invited Plenary Speakers

Lee Chin is an associate professor in international economics at School of Business and Economics, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Her teaching and research interests are in the areas of financial economics, international economics, energy economics and developmental economics. She has taught more than 20 different courses at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and supervised more than 100 undergraduate and postgraduate students. To date, she has published 84 journal articles, 4 books and 15 chapters in books. Her articles were published in impact factor journals such as Applied Economics, Applied Economics Letters, Applied Financial Economics Letters, Singapore Economic Review, Engineering Economics, Energy, Energies, Chemosphere, Ecological Indicators, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, and Quality & Quantity.

Mieke Meurs is a Professor and Associate Dean of Graduate Studies at the College of Arts and Sciences of American University. Prof. Meurs has recently taught Heterodox Microeconomics, Political Economy, and a Complex Problems course called What's It Worth? Her research and publications are mainly in the area of feminist economics, care work, and gender bargaining power. She is an author of dosens of books, book chapters, monographs and peer-reviewed journal articles. Her cecent publications and research examine national models of child and elder care and their labor market implications for individuals, and measurement and implications of gender bargaining power in the Global South and the transition economies of Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Her research articles were published in top international journals, such as World Development, Feminist Economics and Journal of Comparative Economics.

Bauyrzhan Yedgenov is a senior research associate at the International Center for Public Policy in the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University. His primary research interests are Public Economics and Development Economics, specifically state and local public finance, fiscal federalism, taxation, the progressivity of personal income taxes, and their relation to economic development and growth, macroeconomic stability, institutional quality and income inequality. Dr. Yedgenov’s dissertation focuses on the impact of fiscal decentralization on economic growth in cross-country setting using geography indicators of the country as instrumental variables to identify the causality. He recently published an article in Journal of Economic Geography (2017) along with Dr. Gustavo Canavire-Bacarreza (EAFIT, Colombia) and Dr. Jorge Martinez-Vazquez (GSU). Dr. Yedgenov is part of the World Bank’s Youth Corps project in Kazakhstan as a field coordinator, a first major project in Kazakhstan that uses RCT methodology.

Conference fees

ONLINE Participation fee: 2000 KZT = 5 USD which includes electronic proceedings. For international participants, fee maybe waived as per financial support request.
