REO Tutors are currently enrolled SDSU undergraduate students with sophomore standing and above who work with residential students individually to make sure they receive the personalized support they need for their learning style. All Tutors maintain a minimum 3.50 SDSU GPA and have passed the courses they tutor in with a minimum grade of A-.

Lead General Advisor and Retention Specialist
Dr. Baramee Peper Anan (Dr. Peper) graduated with a B.A. in Communication and a minor in Psychology from UC San Diego's Thurgood Marshall College in 2006 and went on to earn an. M.A. in Postsecondary Educational Leadership with a Specialization in Student Affairs (PELSA) from San Diego State University in 2009. After over a decade of professional experience in postsecondary education, he went on to receive an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from UC San Diego and CSU San Marcos in 2023, studying how environmental and interpersonal interactions influence the academic selections of Transgender and/or Nonbinary undergraduates.
Dr. Peper has had the opportunity to work in a variety of postsecondary education capacities and leadership roles serving undergraduate students, including Student Conduct, Career Services, Educational Opportunity Programs, Residential Life, Admissions, Cultural Centers, Enrollment Services, Student Accounts, Financial Aid, Academic Advising, and as a lecturer on multiculturalism and coaching/advising. He currently serves as the Lead General Advisor and Retention Specialist in the Residential Education Office (REO) providing academic advising and overseeing the REO Tutoring Center at South Campus Plaza - South. He enjoys providing support to students and advocating for their needs while also challenging them to expand their horizons.

That every residential student feels comfortable coming to the REO Tutoring Center for academic tutoring support and leaves with strategies and resources towards academic confidence and success.
Aligning with REO’s Mission, Values, and Residential Curriculum Model, the mission of the REO Tutoring Center is to positively support and challenge students living on campus in their personal growth, sense of belonging, social responsibility, and active learning. Through engaging tutoring interactions and academic programs, the REO Tutoring Center is dedicated to developing and enhancing residents' academic success so they may develop holistically as scholars.
The REO Tutoring Center:
Recognizes each residential student as unique individuals with their own learning styles and academic needs.
Understands and values that each residential student comes to the REO Tutoring Center with different life experiences and situations.
Is committed to academic integrity, responsible decision-making, and promoting lifelong learning.
The REO Tutoring Center opened in Fall 2025 as a centralized location for all residential SDSU students to get tutoring for their academic needs. Located on the second-floor of South Campus Plaza - South, it provides space for residential students to revisit learning concepts and strategies with REO Tutors who have taken the course before, a study space with academic and testing resources readily available, and a place to recharge and refuel with snacks, coffee, and tea in community with other residential students.
Dr. Baramee Peper Anan (Dr. Peper) became the inaugural lead for this Center on April 1, 2025 with a student-staff of 18 tutors.
