My commitment to transformative education manifests as a continuous investigation of what both "education" and "transformation" entail. I design embodied inquiries and approaches to inquiry—ways of engaging with questions, concepts, and ideas that have the potential to develop the place from which the inquiry occurs.
I choose research areas and methods that push me to grow as an artist, teacher, and human being so I can keep learning alive in myself. My faculty position at SDSU requires that I articulate my work with embodiment verbally and in writing. This regular reflection yields insights into the reciprocal relationship between my dancemaking and teaching and keeps me true to the "Teacher~Scholar" model that makes SDSU unique.
