If you've been disqualified after the end of Fall 2025 term...
You've been dropped from your entire spring schedule.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
Read the email sent to you from the Registrar's office after the end-of-term (likely Jan. 5) to understand the policy. Here is link to Registrar's website for explanation. THEN,
Read the email I sent to you and follow the instructions for making an appointment.
Get started on addressing your academic status by reading the instructions below.
Please don't stress about this. We KNOW you are an excellent student. (Really!)
Life happens to all of us. We usually can't control what happens TO us, but we can control how we RESPOND.
Before being disqualified, you were on academic notice and provided information and resources in previous term(s).
Being disqualified means that, for whatever reason, you didn't successfully resolve the issues causing you to go on academic notice.
But now MUST resolve the issues, if you want to return to being an SDSU student.
Follow these four steps:
Reflect and write down what happened in your life that became severe enough to affect your academics.
Reflect on the issue(s) and your role in them affecting your responsibilities in the classes.
If you haven't yet resolved the issues, please focus on this, first.
Most important is your health and well-being. SDSU will be here when you are ready to return to classes.
SDSU has many, many resources to support you, depending on the situation. See my page here for some of the common support resources I share with students who've been disqualified.
Once you've addressed your immediate health and well-being, now you need to address your academic situation to get back to being an SDSU student.
For the semesters affected by your personal situation, you may "retroactively withdraw" from some or all courses.
You will need to withdraw from enough courses, maybe over multiple semesters affected, to ensure both your SDSU and cum GPA are 2.0.
See my webpage here to explain this process.
Once your petitions are approved and on your record, you will be an SDSU student again.
HOWEVER, if you've been disqualified after a fall semester AND you want to return to classes in the spring semester, you will NOT have time to do retroactive withdrawals. Your only path forward is request to be reinstated by me, your assistant dean. See my instructions above on how to make an appointment ASAP.
Now, plan how you will manage the situation/issue while meeting your student academic responsibilities.
One option is to take a leave of absence so you can take care of the situation. Read more and find the form here.
Each person is unique so your plan will be different from other students. Some examples include:
registering with Student Disability Services (short-term/long-term disabilty including both see and unseen).
using the PSFA Academic Resource Center for learning strategies tutoring
Make an appointment with your "major advisor" to make sure you are registering for the correct classes. You can find and book an appointment with your advisor in your Navigate account.
