ATTN Mac Users!

The following are recommended best practices for those of you using a Mac laptop/desktop.

First, plug your Blue Yeti microphone in BEFORE launching Audacity, otherwise Audacity will not be able to detect your mic.

Second, if you are using the macOS Catalina (10.15.5), you will need to perform this workaround to record directly into Audacity:

STEP 1 - Exit out of Audacity.

STEP 2 - Launch your Terminal app.

STEP 3 - Type the following into the Terminal and wait for Audacity to launch:

================THE LINE IS BELOW=================

open /Applications/Audacity.app/Contents/MacOS/Audacity

================THE LINE IS ABOVE=================

STEP 4 - With the Terminal still running, you can begin recording. Do not exit out of the Terminal until you are done recording. If you exit out of the Terminal, it will automatically close Audacity and you will LOSE YOUR WORK! There's a chance you can recover your work by opening up Audacity and selecting the Recovered Project.

ALTERNATIVELY, you can download Adobe Audition (if your institution offers it) and record directly there. Make sure to check in your System Preferences > Security & Privacy to allow Audition to can access your mic. GarageBand should also work for recording (again make sure Security & Privacy settings allow mic access).
