My biggest commissioned piece yet. Maple and cherry with iron hairpin legs. Finished with tung oil
A fun little halloween decoration. Used a bandsaw for the outer cuts and a jigsaw for the inner cuts. Red led light strip powered by a 9v battery to give it that eerie glow!
Had some leftover turf after we redid our backyard. Built a picture frame with slats along the bottom/back. Stained weathered grey, but only because the minwax "color of the year" blue stain was impossible to find!
Cornhole boards made for a trip to Coachella. Carved a channel into the top of the boards that led strip lights were rescessed into. Filled with epoxy and then the whole surface was sanded smooth. Also put a ring of lights around the hole on the back side. Pretty darn cool looking at night.
Carved house numbers into a 3/8" thick piece of cedar fence picket. Filled with epoxy and floated into a shaker frame. Led lights around interior of the frame give it a cool backlit effect. Initially battery powered, I ended up switching the power source to a little solar panel so that I never need to change batteries
Playing around with scrap wood sometimes turns into a permament fixture! Leftover pieces of 1x4 pine that I cut with 30 degree angles (I think that math works) to form hexagons. Chamfered the edges then painted the interior/stained the exterior. Sits behind me in my home office, so everyone on my zoom meetings got to see them last year.
Fun little Christmas gift project. Cut wood into square shapes of identical width/thickness, but different lengths. Glue up to "matching" sides and then place either side in a waterproof mold. Lay down some led fairy lights and then pour in epoxy (in stages). These lights can change color with a remote (e.g. the epoxy on both lamps above is actually clear!)
First time using castle joints. Made out of construction grade redwood lumber (so much sanding!) Definitely should have taken the time to properly mill the lumber first to get it square, but still pretty happy with the end result. Finished with Waterlox
