This Dataset is provided by the open data portal for the State of Washington. it represents all electric vehicles registered through the Washington State Department of Licensing. The dataset is updated regularly and contains up-to-date information.
It contains 154000 rows and 17 columns.
From this dataset, we were interested in:
Total count of the entries
County
City
State
Postal Code
Make
Model Year
Electric Vehicle Type
Electric Range
This Dataset is provided by the US Department of Energy.
It contains information on all alternative fuel stations located in the country. We have filtered the location to include only charging stations located in the State of Washington. each entry in the table represents a charging station.
From this dataset, we looked at the following features:
Total count of the stations
City
State
Zip Code
Date Opened
We made sure to filter our data to include only public charging stations. Stations that are currently not in operation were also excluded from the analysis.
One of the goals of our project is to see if there are any correlations between the socioeconomic characteristics of the neighborhood where the EV is registered and the number of charging stations present.
For this analysis, we are concentrating on median household income and the highest level of education achieved by adults in the neighborhood of interest (for a population older than 24 years). For both of these features, we are using data provided by the US Census. We acquired data from 2021.
From the Median Household Income Data we obtained:
ZCTA
Number of Households
Median Household Income
From The Education Dataset, we obtained:
ZCTA
>24 yo High School Diploma
>24 yo Some College, no degree
>24 yo Bachelor's degree
>24 yo Graduate or Professional degree
Since Census data is using ZCTA we have used ZCTA crosswalk database to switch to Zip Codes.
