"AFS/CAC has impacted my higher education experience in such a positive way. Since early on, CAC has always been a resource for college information as well as financial aid and college prep resources. The summer programs they have offered throughout the years have been super helpful. One program I vividly remember was a college prep program during the summer which culminated in a college visit to the Bay Area where we toured several universities."

"Through the guaranteed admission to SDSU by CAC, I was able to find community and support from like minded individuals during my pursuit into research. In one of my interviews, I had mentioned my experience and affiliation with Avenues for Success which led me to network, join Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP), and continue to foster my interest in research through Faculty-Student Mentoring Program (F-SMP). Most memorably, I had the pleasure of presenting research posters alongside my peers at the SDSU Annual Symposium and 2024 National Undergraduate Research Conference!
One of the program’s cornerstone offerings is a Freshman First-Year Seminar (University Seminar course) taught by our Avenues for Success staff. This course is designed to ease the high school-to-college transition, build community among first-generation students, and equip them with tools for academic and personal success during their first year.
