Teacher Bio

Mr. Andrew Puntel received a B.A. in Music from Fordham University in 2004. He directed the choral, instrumental, and general music program at Cathedral High School for Girls in Manhattan from 2005-2008. There he had opportunities to direct choirs in St. Patrick‘s Cathedral and direct the marching band in many annual NYC parades. During that time, he also served as Assistant Director of Choirs at Fordham University. From 2008-2009, Mr. Puntel conducted Fulbright research in Latvia, where he studied choral conducting under Romans Vanags at the National Academy of Music and conducting ethnomusicological research into Choir Culture. In 2009, Mr. Puntel moved to Springfield Township with his family, teaching vocal music in the School District of Philadelphia and directing music ministry at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Flourtown. Now in his seventh Spartan year, Mr. Puntel is dedicated to building the vocal music program with students, parents, colleagues, and and community organizations. Puntel also directs the Eastern University Choir, where he is Professor of Choral Conducting.
