COURSE DESCRIPTION(7th Grade GT Math)

7th Grade Accelerated Mathematics is a rigorous, compacted course designed for students who meet the South Carolina Gifted and Talented program criteria and the School District of Newberry County's placement requirements. The course combines all South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Seventh Grade Mathematics Standards with selected Eighth Grade standards, providing an accelerated pathway that prepares students for higher-level mathematics. Using McGraw Hill South Carolina Reveal Math Course 2 Accelerated and its accompanying instructional resources, students develop strong conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills through the study of real numbers, proportional relationships, percentages, statistics, rational numbers, geometry, algebraic expressions, equations and inequalities, linear relationships, probability, functions, and measurement. Throughout the course, students are challenged to think critically, collaborate effectively, make mathematical connections, and apply their learning to real-world situations.

 COURSE DESCRIPTION(8th Grade Geometry Honors)

Honors Geometry with Statistics is a rigorous, accelerated high school mathematics course designed for students who meet the South Carolina Gifted and Talented program criteria and the School District of Newberry County's placement requirements. This course integrates South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Eighth Grade Mathematics Standards with Geometry with Statistics standards, providing students with the opportunity to earn high school mathematics credit while in middle school. Using McGraw Hill South Carolina Reveal Math Course 3 Accelerated and its accompanying instructional resources, students develop advanced mathematical reasoning through the study of equations and inequalities, real numbers, geometric relationships, congruence, similarity, trigonometry, transformations, circles, measurement, statistics, and probability. Throughout the course, students strengthen their problem-solving, critical thinking, and mathematical communication skills while making meaningful connections between algebra, geometry, statistics, and real-world applications, preparing them for success in higher-level mathematics.
