Testing

The ASVAB is a test created by the military, but you don’t have to join the military to take it. It measures your strengths in areas like math, reading, mechanics, and problem-solving. Even if you’re not planning on enlisting, it can give you insight into what kinds of careers or job areas might be a good fit for you.

The PSAT is basically a practice SAT. It helps you get familiar with the style of questions you’ll see on the SAT, but it doesn’t go on your transcript. Some students who score really high can qualify for the National Merit Scholarship, which can mean free money for college.

The SAT is a college entrance exam. Many colleges use your SAT score, along with your GPA and transcript, to help decide admissions. It tests math, reading, and writing skills. Some schools don’t require it anymore (test-optional), but a strong score can still help with applications and scholarships.
