From Claudia:
Here are the steps for this week’s SLO assessment (March 23-28, 2026) across all Emeritus courses:
1) Use the selected SLO for your Course Outline of Record (COR)
All colleagues teaching the same COR have agreed on one (!) SLO to assess this year.
Please see the selected SLO highlighted in yellow in this document: Emeritus Course SLOs
2) Conduct a simple assessment activity
Measure student learning in your course using an activity such as:
Zoom poll
Discussion participation
Verbal or written quiz
Or another quick, effective method
3) Report your results
Please complete the survey as soon as possible after your class. You will report:
The number of students who met the SLO
The number of students who did not meet the SLO
A brief description of:
The assessment method you used (e.g., quiz, discussion)
What part of the process was most meaningful to you
As discussed yesterday, we will conduct our assessments next week and submit results before spring break. Let’s complete this together so we can all head into the spring break with this work finished.
If you missed yesterday’s meeting, here are the
PowerPoint Slides
Approved and Current Emeritus Course SLOs
Complete one Survey per CRN after each assessment (latest by April 17, 2026 but please, submit it before spring break!)
Thank you all for your collaboration and commitment. Emeritus team - we are an amazing team!
Best wishes always,
Claudia
Each spring, we do assessments of our classes to see how they fit into the current SLOs. Below, you can see the targeted SLOs for each course.
Visit the SDCCE Outcomes and Assessment page on the sdcce.edu website: https://sdcce.edu/organization/institutional-effectiveness/sdcce-outcomes-and-assessment
Each course will have a unique survey. In the spring, you will see links below that will take you to the survey.
Click on the name of the class below to access the survey. Provide students with the link during the SLO week only.
Begin with a short introduction to SLOs. (Institutional, Program and Course. Once a year we evaluate how our instruction meets an SLO.
Introduce the activity which you are going to do, and then explain that the survey is assessing how this activity meets the targeted SLO.
Do the activity as a group
Provide the link to the 2 question survey and have students complete either in class or at home.
Only submit one form per class.
