This week we are visiting Seabreeze Craft Chocolates in San Diego! Usually, we would use the reading to discuss the history of chocolate and the chocolate making process. BUT, we’re going to learn all of that on site, from the experts themselves! So instead of doubling up on that information, we will use the readings this week to explore a bit more the delightful world of this sweet, delicious confection.
The bulk of our reading today will actually be in the form of a quiz; the information is all in the answers!
Fair Trade is a term coming into more common use, especially with regards to goods grown around the world. So what does it mean for chocolate? It means that the chocolate is from cacao beans from farmers who are paid a fair price for their crop. Paying farmers better prices over low prices set by the market allows for farmers to build better lives for themselves and their families.
