Tree Planting Activities play a crucial role in environmental conservation, fostering community involvement, and promoting sustainability. These initiatives contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – Green spaces improve air quality, enhance urban resilience, and create healthier living environments. SDG 13: Climate Action – Trees absorb carbon dioxide, helping to mitigate climate change. SDG 15: Life on Land – Reforestation supports biodiversity, restores ecosystems, and prevents soil erosion.
By engaging students, faculty, and local organizations, tree-planting programs encourage environmental stewardship and long-term sustainability, ensuring a greener, healthier future for generations to come.
In celebration of Arbor Day on June 25, 2025, the Local Government Unit of Bacoor City, through its City Environment Service Department, in partnership with the Community Extension Services Office of St. Dominic College of Asia, spearheaded the coastal tree-planting initiative titled "Berdeng Baybayin: Magtanim ng Bakawan, Proteksyon para sa Kinabukasan." Held at the mangrove area of Dulong Pulo, Brgy. Sinbanali, the activity aimed to restore the coastal ecosystem by planting mangroves as a natural defense against flooding and coastal erosion
Volunteers from various student organizations and CESO came together to contribute to the environmental advocacy, reinforcing the importance of sustainable ecosystems for future generations. The event served as a platform for environmental education, community engagement, and ecological stewardship.
This initiative strongly aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 13: Climate Action – by enhancing coastal resilience and combating the effects of climate change. SDG 14: Life Below Water – through the protection of marine biodiversity via mangrove rehabilitation. SDG 15: Life on Land – by supporting the restoration of degraded ecosystems. SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – by fostering collaboration between loca l government, academia, and the community.
Through this collaborative effort, Arbor Day 2025 successfully reaffirmed the community’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.
