I will be using Google Classroom this year to assist students in tracking their assignments. A majority of the class will focus on Math Techbook, but we will also use IXL, Khan Academy, and Freckle in the classroom. Additionally, there may be notes, assignments, or assessments provided on paper that students will keep in their binders. When possible, virtual copies of notes and assignments will be uploaded to Google Classroom.
We will have an exciting year exploring ratios; division, factors, and multiples; operations with fractions and decimals; unit rates and percents; rational numbers; the coordinate plane; algebraic expressions; equations and inequalities; dependent and independent variables; data distributions; measures of center and variation; area of polygons; and surface area and volume.
Throughout these units, we will focus on incorporating the following 8 Mathematical Practices:
Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
Model with mathematics.
Use appropriate tools strategically.
Attend to precision.
Look for and make use of structure.
Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
