My name is Mrs. McKenzie and I am the 8th Grade Science teacher at Westchester Middle School. I have been teaching for 16 years and am excited to be able to teach one of my favorite subjects.
I went to Illinois State University, where I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. I received my master's degree from Northeastern Illinois University as a reading specialist, which helps me teach all students how to read and understand what they are reading-- especially in science!
Personally, I am from and live in Westchester. I graduated from WMS in 2002 and enjoyed my experience as both a student and now a teacher. My husband, Ryan, is also a Westchester native and graduated from WMS in 2000. We both attended Proviso West High School. We have two children, Adam, who will be 12 in November, and Ashley, who is 10. We enjoy going to parks, going swimming, traveling, and taking walks.
I love going to museums and doing experiments with my kids. I look forward to making science relatable to my students' lives and being excited about this subject. I look forward to making each child successful as they navigate science and their 8th-grade year.
Here is to a wonderful year!!!!
