Jazz Ensemble at WMS is an audition based group open for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade band students.  You must continue to play in one of the other ensembles (Concert or Symphonic Band) if you choose to audition for Jazz Ensemble.  Also, before choosing to audition, be sure that you are able to make Thursday evening rehearsals from 6:30pm - 7:30pm.  We will also have occasional rehearsals or jazz sectionals after school or before school on Mondays.  All interested students will audition to be in jazz ensemble; including students who were in the ensemble the previous year.  Being in jazz ensemble the previous school year DOES NOT guarantee you a spot in the ensemble this year.  The following instruments are able to audition:

Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, Tuba, Piano, Guitar, Bass Guitar, and Drum Set.

*Piano, guitar, and bass players do not have to be a member of the band program to audition for Jazz Ensemble.

*Alto Saxophone players must be willing to switch to tenor saxophone or baritone saxophone for Jazz Ensemble if asked to do so by the director.
