I’m all about keeping the lines of communication open with parents — when we work together, it makes a big difference for students! Please reach out with any concerns, questions, etc!
Raffle Tickets: Our raffle tickets are an individualized behavior management tool. When students are meeting and exceeding expectations (e.g. being "kind, responsible, respectful and safe"!) they will be given a raffle ticket. They will put their name on the back and put it in the bucket. At the end of the week, I will pull 5 (depending on how many tickets there are) to win a small prize!
Reward Jar: Our Reward Jar is a whole-class incentive system that helps us build teamwork and celebrate positive behavior together! Every time our class gets a compliment from another staff member (like showing great hallway behavior or being extra kind), we earn a magnet in our reward jar. Once we collect 10 to 15 magnets, we unlock a class reward! Rewards might include things like extra recess, a fun classroom movie, a game day, or another surprise treat. It’s a great way for students to work together toward something exciting!
Kenny Paws: “Kenny Paws” are part of our school-wide reward system that celebrates students for showing awesome character! Teachers and staff hand out Kenny Paws to students who are caught being kind, respectful, responsible, and all-around great role models. At the end of each month, students turn in their Kenny Paws to the main office. Then, one lucky winner from each grade level is randomly chosen to enjoy a special lunch with the principals — a fun way to celebrate positive behavior!
Good News Call: When a student is going above and beyond in the classroom, they may receive a “Good News Call.” This is a special shout-out from the school principal, Ms. Grulke, who calls home to share the positive news with their family.
Behavior Note: When a student continues to misbehave in class and make poor choices after receiving two verbal warnings, they will receive a behavior note from the teacher. This letter is sent home to inform parents about the student’s behavior in class.
Think Sheets: When a student has a recurring behavior issue or consistently makes poor choices, they complete a “Think Sheet” to reflect on the problem and identify better choices for the future. This sheet must be signed by a parent or guardian, allowing teachers and parents to work together in addressing and improving the student’s behavior.
