Our Classroom

Welcome to our classroom

Our Grade One classroom is a Reggio-inspired classroom. The Reggio Emilia school philosophy believes that the environment is the "third teacher." Space is carefully organized for small and large group projects and for providing small, intimate spaces for one, two or three children. Documentation of children's work, plants, and collections that are relevant to the children are displayed both at the children's and adult eye level. Space is available to all children in the classroom and includes dramatic play areas and worktables for children to come together. The walls and display boards are maintained in a neutral shade so as not to detract from children’s work. Neutral walls or boards will not compete with the work, but instead create a supportive environment for items on display. The walls of the classroom reflect the image of the children – their interests, their skills, and their knowledge. Music fills the tranquil room and provides a space for children to reflect and create.

Quotes To Live By

Just for Laughs

“What if the hokey pokey is really what it’s all about!”

“If at first you don’t succeed, skydiving is not for you.”

“Always remember you’re unique. Just like everyone else.”

“If the shoe fits, it’s ugly!”

Thoughts that make you go ummmmm.....

If you can’t be a highway, just be a trail.

If you can’t be a sun, be a star.

For it’s not by size that you win or you fail –

But by being the best of whatever you are.

(Bernard Baruch)

Just Me

Nobody sees what I can see,

For the back of my eyes there is only me.

And nobody knows how my thoughts begin,

For there’s only myself inside my skin.

Isn’t it strange how everyone owns

Just enough skin to cover his bones?

My father’s would be too big to fit ---

I’d be all wrinkled inside of it.

And my baby brother’s is too small ---

It just wouldn’t cover me up at all

But I feel just right in the skin I wear,

And there’s nobody like me anywhere.

(Margaret Hillert)

“You’re off to Great Places

Today is your day!

Your mountain is waiting

So…get on your way.”

(Dr. Seuss)
