We all know that student mental health is a growing concern in classrooms across Canada, especially during a pandemic. Mental health literacy is an important skill for teachers to have in order to support their students. But what is the connection between mental health and learning, and how can teachers support students’ mental health in the classroom? During my presentation, I will describe (a) one popular self-regulated learning framework, and (b) how self-regulated learning strategies can be used in any classroom to help students optimize their learning and their mental health. You will leave the session with knowledge of a self-regulated learning framework and strategies you can adapt and implement in your own classroom.
