Mathematics helps children understand the world around them and develop essential life skills. However, fluency in math goes beyond simply recalling facts. To become truly fluent, students need to know when and how to apply these facts.
To support your child's learning, encourage them to explain how they arrived at an answer or to explore alternative methods. Engage them in dice or card games, and puzzles that incorporate basic math skills, such as Cribbage or Kakuro. You can also ask math-related questions about everyday activities like cooking, sports, or money. For additional ideas and resources, refer to the websites listed on this page!
Happy calculating!
