Reading and Writing:
We eased into our school work today with a snapshot of our break. It was wonderful to hear about the fun moments and favourite memories that were made over the break.
We did some partner reading today and went on a Grammar Scavenger Hunt. We were looked for common and proper nouns, action verbs, words instead of 'said', adverbs, adjectives, prepositional phrases, and complex or compound sentences.
We will be starting a mystery reading and writing unit soon. In preparation for that we will be practicing pulling out the main idea and important details in readings. We will be practicing writing with dialogue and using the appropriate punctuation marks. We will also practice our inference skills as we read.
We will have our multiplication unit test next week on Wednesday April 8th.

New fun learning coming soon!

We are working on an art project this week that explores patterns and contrasting colours using black and white.
As part of our social and emotional learning goals this year, Mrs. Bales and Ms. Watson will be introducing students to some new strategies to help them manage everyday worries and anxiety. The strategies come from a collection of resources called EASE (Everyday Anxiety Strategies for Educators). Some of the skills students will learn include:
• How to recognize their own feelings
• How to calm their bodies so they can relax and focus
• How to take care of their mental well-being using a basic self-care plan that they will design themselves
The activities are designed for all students to learn strategies that will benefit them now and in the future. The lessons are practical and engaging and easy to include in our classroom routines.
If you are interested in learning more about EASE, here is a link to Healthy Minds BC and the EASE at Home website.
