The Center for Education in Mathematics and Computing - Problem of the week for grade schoolers - The Problem of the Week is designed to provide students with an ongoing opportunity to solve mathematical problems. Each week, problems from various areas of mathematics will be posted here and e-mailed to teachers for use with their students from grades 3 and up.

Math Shorts - Short and concise videos explaining math concepts. 

Math Drills is a great website with worksheets to practice many middle school Math skills. Each worksheet comes with an answer key to check/verify your work and answers.

Brainpop - Helpful and fun videos explaining Math and Science concepts and processes (Subscription required).

View videos that explore, step-by-step, how to solve a range of math problems and explain concepts. Practice questions and get additional explanation of  concepts.

Cuethink: Created for students in 2nd to 12th grade, this innovative peer-to-peer application seeks to improve critical thinking skills by making math social. Focusing on the social aspect of math, according to CueThink, will help foster a growth mindset and enable students to perceive challenges as opportunities. Using this online program, students apply mathematician George Pólya’s four phases when tackling math problems: understand, plan, solve, and review. Once they settle on a strategy and devise a plan, students will answer the question and review their answer.

The Art of Problem Solving - Pre-Algebra and Algebra:

My Favorite Thing: their videos are organized, clear, helpful, and free! This math website has lots of stuff including math discussion forums, math competition information, and classes students can enroll into… but we especially like their clear videos!

Coolmath4Kids is an amusement park of math, games, and more, designed to teach math and make it FUN. Focusses on foundational skill practice in a fun engaging way.

Computer Coding Resources: Practice and grow you computer programming thinking and skills with these online coding websites!

Tutorials, activities, and games that teach students computer programming/coding.

Scratch is a free visual programming language developed by the MIT Media Lab.  Scratch was created to help young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically and work collaboratively.

Codecademy is an online freemium interactive platform that offers free coding classes in 12 different programming languages including Python, Java, PHP, JavaScript, Ruby,  SQL, and Sass, as well as markup languages HTML and CSS. The site also offers a paid "pro" option that gives users access to a personalized learning plan, quizzes, realistic projects, and live help from advisors.

Code Avengers is a great educational web platform that introduces users to HTML, Javascript, and CSS. These three platforms are used to build games, web pages, and apps.

Lightbot app integrates fun gameplay with coding lessons, teaching principles and concepts of coding, such as if-then statements. 

The Basics level introduces users to commands. At first, this feels like just another puzzle game, which is the genius of Lightbot. Users start at three commands and increase as they are able to pass each level.

Code Combat gives learners the feeling of wizardly power at their fingertips by using typed code. Learn to code with game play.

A puzzle game created entirely on iPad, for all ages. Teaches the principles of programming! This is an app you can download.

Chilli Math - This is a well organized site that focuses on Pre-Algebra to Advanced Algebra. A great resource for gifted children who are ready to dive into Algebra!
