Bonjour families,

I haven't checked the weather report but I'm hoping that the sunshine will last into the weekend! My garden calls!

Today we had a guest speaker talk to us about climate change impacts on the the world's oceans. The presentation was entitled "Hot, sour and breathless". Please feel free to ask your child about it!

In response to the presentation, the students' task is to fill out a "speaker report" (this is their third speaker report, so they are quite familiar with the process). Please remind them to submit it by Monday and that it must be in full sentences and in pencil. If your child needs a fresh copy of the report, please print out the file at the following link:

Speaker Report

Hello 7-8 families,

The students have had a very exciting (albeit short) week: FSA work for the grade 7s, climbing wall outing, corn maze...Next week will be more typical!

Weekend reminders/notes:

  • I have a tiny handful of students who have not submitted their element project and/or their 2 speaker reports. Please hand them in on Monday!
  • Interim reports will be going out next Thursday.
  • As you may have heard, I tend to occasionally hand out fruit-flavored candy to our hard-working class (we loosely refer to them as our "math vitamins"). If you wish to contribute to my stash, you are more than welcome! Bags of small, tidy and chewy candy are best (eg. Skittles, sour jellies, gummy bears, jujubes). Nothing which is individually-wrapped, please.

Have a lovely weekend!

Bonjour families!

Another week has quickly come and gone! It was a pleasure for Mme Ryall and I to meet with many of you this week. Please remember that we are available year-round to meet again if you have any questions/concerns; simply email one or both of us and we'll set it up.

Reminders for the weekend:

  1. Science: The students have a flyer project due on Monday on an element of their choice. Many are finished and have submitted; others still need to finish transferring their research (in their duotang) to the flyer template I have given them.
  2. Science: Students have also experienced two "demonstration" blocks this week on the Sun-Earth-Moon system and its dynamics. For each of these blocks, they had a "speaker report" to fill out. Many have handed them in; others have the second one to finish at home. Full sentences, please.
  3. Math: We are working heavily on the order of operations and will likely be ready to assess on Wednesday. Ask you students about it! Most are feeling rather positive about about their progress (if you'll excuse the pun!).

Have a lovely weekend--

Julie/ Mme L
