As YouTube is owned by Google, it works seamlessly with GAFE products. You can add YouTube videos directly into Google Slides, Google Sites, and Google Classroom.
This post will discuss how to easily share YouTube videos using a URL and how to insert these videos seamlessly into Google Slides, Sites, and Classroom.
The easiest way to share a YouTube video is using the video's URL. Use this URL when inserting a video into a Google Site, Slideshow or Classroom or simply send the link in an email or paste it in a document.
To find the URL for a specific YouTube video:
Find the video you want to share - see previous post here for searching for YouTube videos
Select the Share button
Copy the URL shown
In Google Classroom YouTube videos can be added to Announcements, Assignments or Questions.
Select the + Button > Choose Announcement, Assignment or Question
Click the YouTube icon
The Insert Video menu will appear
To insert a YouTube video directly into a Google Slide:
Click on the Insert Menu
Select Video
The Insert Video menu will appear.
To insert/embed a YouTube video into a Google Site:
1. Go to the Insert tab
2. Scroll down to Google Embeds
3. Select YouTube
4. The Insert Video menu will appear
Whether you insert a YouTube video in Google Slides, Google Classroom or Google Sites, you will always see the same Insert Video menu.
From this menu, there are two ways you can find and insert the YouTube video you want.
Search for YouTube videos using key words.
Use the URL from YouTube.
While finding and sharing great YouTube videos is awesome, creating and sharing your own, or better yet having your students create and share them is even better!
Next week's post will discuss how to use screencasts to have students demonstrate their learning, and how YouTube helps us easily share and save these videos.
