In this post I will show you the basic functions of the TEC Package including the control box and remote. I have also highlighted some tips I find handy when using this projector set up. Lastly, I have added a Troubleshooting Section, should you have problems.
For this section I am going to use images and link you to the District’s Technology for Learning page.
They have done a really good job putting together simple images and directions. For more information click on the link above or on any of the images below.
Use this button to freeze the projector on a particular image/screen then feel free to use your computer as usual
For example, freeze an image or instruction set and then use your computer to open another tab to check your email, do attendance, or set up the next part of the lesson. The projector will not move from the frozen image until you press the Freeze button again.
Use this button to “turn off” the projector without really turning it totally off.
For example, use A/V Mute to give students time to discuss/work and then return to what you are projecting quickly when they are done. - The benefit to using A/V Mute over Powering Off is that it takes less time for the projector to come back on.
Note: This will not pause if you are watching a video, it will just mute the picture and sound.
Use color mode to adjust the brightness and colors you project
There are several settings: Blackboard, Whiteboard, Dynamic (brightest), Presentation, Theatre, Photo, sRGB
When testing out the various color settings you will need to wait a second or two as the projector adjusts.
To play sound/music through the computer I have found that as long as I start the music with the projector on, it continues to play when I turn the power to the projector off.
The Audio Mute button (on the main panel) can be used to mute sound only.
If everything seems to be fine, but your project is still not working (all you see is the Blue screen) try the following:
If you are using your educator laptop, ensure the HDMI cable is connect to both your computer and the control box > Press the HDMI 1 button
These HDMI cables only work in one direction, so be sure the end labeled "source" is the one connected to your computer,
If you are using a desktop PC - check the VGA Connector from the TEC package is secure to the back of your computer
The screen setting on your computer may have been changed.
To check these settings, right click on the desktop and select Screen resolution
Check that the settings says Duplicate Displays
If you have any questions just let me know. I’d be happy to come by a provide a quick tutorial or help troubleshoot a problem you might have.
