We greatly value the diversity in our school population and recognize that our students require varying levels of support depending on their needs. Outside of their classroom teacher(s), student may also be support by:
-Work with students to provide a wide range of academic assistance, monitoring of behaviour and facilitating integration in the classroom and school environment
-Principal
-Collaborates and consults with staff, as well as provides individual and/or small group support for students in areas such as emotional regulation, friendships, self-esteem, anxiety, dealing with social conflicts, classroom supports, grief and loss, separation/divorce
-Music teacher, school librarian, inclusive education teacher
-Occupational Therapist (OT): Itinerant Occupational Therapy services are offered to students who need support in areas such as self-care and life skills, mobility (wheelchair and adaptive equipment at home and school), fine motor skills, input regarding vocation, leisure activities and safety. -Physical Therapist (PT): Itinerant Physiotherapy services are offered to support students with physical limitations who are experiencing concerns around safety, who have ongoing complex needs and require assistive devices for mobility and who have identified need in the areas of mobility, strength and coordination that id affecting their daily function. -Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP): Speech and Language services are provided to students with language, articulation, voice or fluency struggles. A referral from school-based team is required. For more information on SLP support please visit www.sd61.bc.ca.
-The district Inclusive Learning Team provides both direct and consultative services for students and staff and work in partnership with school-based staff to address the challenges faced by students with exceptionalities. For more information on the district team please visit www.sd61.bc.ca.
