The purpose of this data is to provide School District 54 families and staff with a transparent summary of instances of COVID-19 reported to District 54.
A positive case indicates that the student or staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. Please report cases of COVID-19 to your school so that we can initiate contact tracing. Any individual who tests positive for COVID-19 must quarantine, regardless of their vaccination status. District 54 is required to report all positive cases and close contacts to the health department, which has the final authority for who needs to quarantine and for how long.
Current Guidance (as of 8-23-21) requires that individuals who test positive and are symptomatic remain home for 10 days from the onset of symptoms and not return until they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever reducing medications.
The school will conduct contact tracing each time a student or staff member tests positive. Parents of students identified as close contacts will be contacted directly by the school to discuss next steps. Consistent with current CDC guidance, fully vaccinated individuals who are asymptomatic do not need to quarantine if they are exposed to a positive case but it is recommended they test three to five days after the known exposure and wear a mask in public indoor setting for 14 days after exposure or until a negative test result.
