My name is Matt Nolan and I will be your child's sixth grade teacher this year! This will be my third school year teaching sixth grade full-time, though I have been at Collins for about four years now in different teaching roles. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue working with the wonderful staff and students here at Collins! I will do all that I can to support your children and prepare them for next year, so they have a successful transition to junior high!
A Little More About Me:
I grew up in Schaumburg and went to Dirksen Elementary and Frost Junior High right down the street from Collins. I graduated from Schaumburg High School and went to the University of Illinois where I studied Spanish and Economics. After graduating, I moved to Barcelona, Spain, where I taught English for two years. After returning home, I went back to school and I received my Master’s in Teaching at Northern Illinois University. I was a substitute teacher in District 54 for about three years and did several maternity leaves, including third, fourth, and sixth grade classes at Collins, before joining the sixth grade team full time.
Outside of school, my favorite thing to do is travel. I've been to almost 30 countries and hope to have the opportunity to visit many more! I also enjoy being active and spending time with friends and family!
