To find a student ID number on your school-issued iPad...
Open the settings app.
Click on your student's name.
Your student's ID number is the 6-digit number found before the @ in the student email address.
To determine Google account information (needed for Seesaw, Padlet, and other apps and websites)...
Student usernames follow this convention: idnumber@g.sd54.org
For example: ******@g.sd54.org
Student passwords follow this convention: Dirksen28FirstInitialLastInitial
For example: Dirksen28KL

To help your student switch between subjects or classes on Seesaw...
Open the Seesaw app.
Click on the student's name in the upper left corner of the screen.
After doing this, tabs with all the subjects or classes should appear on the left side of the screen .
Click on the desired subject or class.
To help your student find an activity on Seesaw...
Open the Seesaw app.
Navigate to the desired subject or class.
Click on the "Activities" tab (lightbulb icon) on the right side of the screen.
Find the desired activity.
Click the "Add Response" button.
To help your child read and hear instructions in a Seesaw activity...
Open the Seesaw app.
Navigate to the desired subject or class.
Find the desired activity within the "Activities" tab.
Typically, written instructions can be found in the activity preview seen here.
Verbal instructions may also be found in the activity preview-click "Play Instructions" to listen.
If your child needs to see or hear instructions again after beginning an activity, click "View Instructions" at the top of the screen.
To help your child see, hear, and respond to feedback on submitted activities in Seesaw...
Open the Seesaw app.
Navigate to the desired subject or class.
Click on the "Journal" tab (book icon) on the right side of the screen.
Scroll through the journal to view student's submitted activities.
Look for written and verbal comments on student's submitted activities.
Encourage your child to read or listen to feedback and comment back or edit work as needed.
To help your child edit submitted activities in Seesaw...
Open the Seesaw app.
Navigate to the desired subject or class.
Click on the "Journal" tab.
Scroll through the journal to view student's submitted activities and feedback on those activities.
Click on the 3 dots near the bottom right corner of the activity.
Choose "Edit Activity" to allow your child to edit as needed.
After editing, make sure to submit the activity by clicking the green checkmark.

To help your student join a scheduled Zoom meeting...
Open the Zoom app.
Click on "Join a Meeting."
Enter the Meeting ID and Password.
I will provide my Meeting ID and Password in an email as well as a message on Seesaw.
OR
Open the Seesaw app.
Navigate to the desired subject or class.
Click on the "Activities" tab.
Find the Zoom meeting activity.
Click the blue Zoom logo to join the meeting.
Clicking "Add Response" will NOT bring you to the Zoom meeting.
To help your student engage during a scheduled Zoom meeting...
Help your child find a comfy, quiet spot for the meeting.
As much as possible, have materials prepared in the comfy, quiet spot prior to the meeting.
We are always flexible with this one! Usually students are quite the problem-solvers.
Encourage your child to use headphones.
Practice Zoom controls like mute/unmute, video on/off, reactions, chat, speaker view, and gallery view.
Chat will only be used to respond to questions asked by the teacher.
If internet connection is lost while a meeting is in progress...
Double click the home button on the iPad.
Swipe up on the Zoom app to close it.
Open the Zoom app and re-enter Meeting ID and Password OR click link provided in Seesaw.
