Battle of the Books 1st/ 2nd Grade

Mondays - 11:15 - 12:00pm
Each 1st and 2nd grade student will read 10 books, chosen by the school district, between October and the end of March. Most reading will be required on your own time and some reading will be provided during club meetings. You will also participate in writing and answering questions about the books you read. Each week we will discuss what we’ve read, come up with questions about the books we have finished, and we will practice together when we get closer to the competition. We call it a battle, because in April we compete against other schools to see who knows the books the best!

In Battle of the books, students meet weekly to discuss the texts they are reading. Students read a total of ten books and learn how to develop questions for competition. Students are also given time to read in the club as well. Students work with one another to author questions about the book and practice competing with each other on their knowledge of the texts.

Do you like to craft? Do you want to help decorate our school to make it a more beautiful place for all? Join Decor Club! We will be making seasonal bulletin boards, adding posters around the school and giving the school some extra flare and shine!

Join Newspaper Club and let's get the word out about all the amazing people and events going on at Armstrong! Students on staff for the newspaper will take on specific roles and work to compose fun and interesting articles for publication. The opportunity is open to 5th and 6th grade students.
