Things to consider for Grade 10: There are required courses so you are choosing 2 electives. In order to graduate you also need an applied skill elective so something like Skills, Art, Computer. Have a look at the Outside the Timetable page to round out your school experience.

Grade 12 students must also complete the français langue seconde - immersion 12 assessment in order to earn a Dual Dogwood.

Français langue seconde-immersion 10, 12**

4 credits, required

In FRALL, we develop the foundations necessary for the acquisition of French language through grammar study, verbal interaction, novel study as well as exploring the French language through current media sources. The intent of FI courses is for students to develop the abilities to organize ideas on a range of topics, in a clear, coherent and consistent manner, understand and use works of literature written in French, and to feel empowered by self-expression in a second language.
Learning happens through lectures, stations, discussion circles, debates, speeches, games. Assessment through projects, quizzes, essays, participation, interviews, dictees
Generally homework is not assigned. Students are encouraged to review notes from class or finish work they did not complete during the class time provided. Students should study for weekly or monthly dictees and work on summative assessments (about 4 / semester) outside of class time.
Students are expected to speak in French at all times (to teachers and their peers) during French Immersion classes.

Sciences Humaines 10

4 credits in grade 10 (satisfies Social Studies 10 graduation requirement)

Sciences humaines 10 examines topics in modern Canadian and world history, including Canada's transformation from British dominion to independent nation, development of human rights in Canada and around the world, and major international conflicts.

In grades 11 and 12, French Immersion students will take the following courses

Communication Orale 11

4 credits

Communication Orale 12 is designed to encourage students to refine and clarify their communication through practice and revision of French-language texts, with an emphasis on oral communication. The course provides students with opportunities to explore original texts, as well as to create, write, and share their own texts for a range of purposes and real-world audiences and to develop active listening skills. Through processes of drafting, reflection and revising, students will build a body of work for a range of language situations. Over time, they will develop confidence in their oral and written communication skills.
The following are possible focus areas in Communication orale 12: spoken word, poetry, slam, presentation of poems and fables, plays, reader’s theatre, skits, improvisation, songs, public speaking, and debating.

Études Du Cinéma et de la Littérature Francophones 12

4 credits

This course is designed to encourage students to discover, explore, analyze, and interpret cinematographic and literary works of the French-speaking world. By studying a variety of texts, students will acquire knowledge of francophone culture, which will contribute to the development of their identity.
The film component of the course will enable students to discover cinematographic works from different eras, cultures, styles, and genres. Through the literature component, students will discover a variety of literary texts and works.

Langue et Culture de la Francophonie 12

4 credits,

This course is designed to encourage students to discover, explore, analyze, and interpret the language and culture specific to the Francophone experience and Canada’s French-speaking culture. The big ideas include how identity is linked to communicating and living within French communities which in turn fosters a sense of belonging and cultural traditions. Linguistic variations will be discussed and analyzed. Students will explore how cultural reference points are specific to the Francophone texts, media and communications.
