THE LEARNING GARDEN
🌿 We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our new Garibaldi Highlands Learning Garden web page! 🌿 School staff, PAC, and Squamish CAN have been working tirelessly for years to get this project off the ground and finally all of that hard work is beginning to materialize into a concrete building timeline and budget.
This garden space will celebrate our school’s commitment to hands-on, outdoor learning and environmental stewardship. Visit the page to learn more about our garden’s purpose, see what’s growing, and find out how you can get involved. There’s also a spreadsheet outlining current tasks and needs — if there’s something you can help with, please email me at klowe@sd48.bc.ca, and I’ll add your name to the list.
Thank you to everyone who has already donated and volunteered time, products, or services. Together we can make this happen.
SILENT AUCTION
Our PAC Silent Auction is officially live, and we’re inviting our entire Garibaldi Highlands community to take part! This is a wonderful opportunity to bid on some amazing items while directly supporting an exciting school initiative — our new Learning Garden.
Every dollar raised will go toward bringing this vibrant outdoor learning space to life. The Learning Garden will provide hands-on opportunities for students to explore native plants, pollinators, food sustainability, and environmental stewardship right here on school grounds.
Your participation—whether through bidding, sharing, or donating—helps us create a space that will benefit students for years to come. Thank you for supporting our school, our learners, and this incredible community project. Click here to bid!
🎉 PACK Ticket Celebration! 🎉
We’re excited to share that we’ve reached our PACK Ticket goal! To celebrate, we’ll be having a movie afternoon in the gym next Wednesday.
Primary students (including Grade 3/4s) will watch a movie between recess and lunch, and intermediate students will have their movie after lunch. There will be popcorn, and you’re welcome to bring blankets, pillows, and stuffies.
Remember to use movie theatre etiquette—stay in one spot, whisper voices only, and no gym equipment. Students will get one reminder, and if expectations aren’t followed, they’ll return to class.
Great work, everyone! 🎬🍿

🎃 Halloween at School!
Students are invited to wear costumes to school on Halloween. Please remember that costumes must be school-appropriate — they may not include weapons (real or pretend) or masks of any kind. We look forward to seeing everyone’s creative and fun outfits while keeping our learning environment safe and welcoming for all!
Halloween, which takes place on October 31, is thought to have originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, though it shares important ties with various other celebrations from several faiths and cultures, including Día de los Muertos (or the Day of the Dead), All Saints Day, and All Souls Day. Halloween made its way over to the United States with British and Irish colonists, eventually becoming the holiday we know today, with traditions of door-to-door trick-or-treating and decorations. Halloween Treats Friday!!! Bring a twoonie ($2) to buy a cupcake, freezie, or chips from our lovely PAC after school.
Friendly Reminder:
We understand that at times, families may choose to take extended holidays during the school term. While we are so grateful for EGHE students to have these amazing experiences, we want to address requests for student work during such absences.
Please note that when a child is out of school for an extended holiday, teachers are not expected to organize, send, or mark any schoolwork for the duration of the absence. Many classrooms have online platforms such as google classroom, IXL, je lis, Epic, Seesaw, and more. If you are concerned about your child falling behind feel free to interact with these platforms, encourage your child to read, talk about the math you see in the world, maybe write a journal, and mostly enjoy time together as a family.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
