Hello Everyone,

Here are two music videos created during Covid 19. They are very different in music styles but both are presented by musicians who care and want to make a difference in the world. Always look for those who help.

Angelique Kidjo is a famous African singer, songwriter who has done many incredible acts of kindness and support in during her career. She is an ambassador for UNICEF and supports many causes world wide. Please dance along!

Blue Rodeo is a Canadian band that also supports many local charities in Toronto and around Canada.

See if you recognize anyone helping them sing the song n the video? There are even some Whistler people (hint).

Please share this with your families as I know many families will enjoy the songs.

Let me know your thoughts on how we, as a school community , could help make a difference in this time. What act of kindness could we collectively do? A song? Fundraise?

Have a great long weekend!

Thank you for all the Talent Show submissions! Awesome!

Ms. Edwards

Hello Everyone,

Since we are not doing drumming in school as planned, here is a great African drum lesson from the Kennedy Art Centre. If you have a drum, try to play along. This also helps with learning about time on a clock! Have fun!!

This is a beautiful video of musician Jack Johnson and Hawaiian musician Paula Fuga playing guitar and Ukulele last week. The song has a great message and shows how well guitar and Ukulele sound together.

I hope some of you try it!

Hello Everyone! Happy Earth Day!

Please watch the video I have sent you. It is Joni mitchell , a famous Canadian song writer and musician. She wrote the song a long time ago but it still holds very true today!

Try writing a poem and turning into a song. Pick an object or scene in nature and paint it or sketch it. If you go outside you will see and hear so many beautiful birds right now.

Stay tuned to the Music web site this week for a BIG announcement!

Hi Everyone,

Here is a fun Ukulele play along to a song you all know.

When the chords outlines RED you play them.

The words are up like karaoke. Keep the stums simple.

Let me know if it works by sending an email in your google classroom.

You can play it on your guitar using same chords ( just different chord shape for guitar for chords as you know)

Reminder, to get onto your grade group WEB site, click on your grade group at the top of the web site and it wil take you here.

Have fun!

Ms. Edwards

PS- I have added a classic song for EARTH DAY by one of my favourite bands! Click on the link below and the song will appear. The message is clear. Prize to the first person who responds with answer to the question: Who is singing?

Hello Everyone!

I am so excited to be presenting our new MUSIC web site. It has been great to hear from so many of you and I am glad many of you are still playing your guitars, ukuleles, pianos and other instruments. The Toronto symphony orchestra made this video a few weeks ago as a positive message to the world. It took a lot of effort and collaborating. I hear many of you are writing songs! Looking forward to hearing them in the coming weeks.

Send your thoughts and or,ideas to your google classroom accounts.

There are so many beautiful song birds in the area right now!
