CKLA
District 44 uses Amplify CKLA as a curricular resource to teach foundational skills and letter formation. This program uses a systematic phonics approach that teaches students to read by blending all through the word. It is a sound-first approach where the most frequent sounds and sound-spellings are taught first to access text more rapidly. As letter names are not as important for learning to read, CKLA focuses on phonemes, or sounds, as the primary organizing principle of the program.
