Here at Park View and Pleasant Lane we approach art class with a focus on teaching students how to think like an artist and not simply reproduce pre-planned assignments or follow step-by-step projects.

Students will:

• Learn how to come up with original ideas.
• Study and learn from real life and picture references.
• Practice and plan their ideas in a sketchbook.
• Selecting tools and materials.
• Setting up their work space.
• To persist through mistakes and take artistic risks.
• Reflect upon their artwork through critiques.
• Create artist statements.

Our curriculum is built upon the nationally recognized Choice Based Learning program called TAB which stands for Teaching for Artistic Behavior.
