Harris Finishes Season with Huge PR at State!

First-time State Qualifier Morgan Harris ran a personal best time of 25.03 at the IHSA State Meet on Friday, May 23, 2014.  Harris finished 5th in her heat and posted the 11th fastest time in the 200 meter dash prelims.  Harris concluded her season just .03 seconds off of the school record, held by Jasmine Davis.  Congratulations go to Morgan on a great season!

Morgan Harris Qualifies for 2014 State Track Meet in the 200 Meter Dash!


Sophomore Morgan Harris earned a Sectional Championship in the 200 meter dash on Thursday, May 15 at the Minooka Sectional Meet.  Her time of 25.57 earned her the Wolves' only title of the night.  The 4x100 relay team of Nicole Buado, Sade Akinfe, Brooke Marshall, and Harris placed third, missing 2nd place and an automatic state berth by .02 seconds.  The relay set a new school record in their efforts.  Harris also placed third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.74.  Tara Schumacher placed 6th in the 300 meter hurdles, re-setting the school record she set earlier in the season in 49.19.  Cassidy Osborne-Butler placed 5th in Discus with her season PR of 105'10.  As a team, the Wolves placed 9th.  Minooka won the meet with 96 points.  Morgan Harris will compete in the 200 meter dash preliminaries on Friday, May 23.  Great job, Wolves!  Good luck, Morgan!

OEHS Takes 2nd at SPC Conference Championships!

The Girls Track and Field Team surprised many at the Southwest Prairie Conference Meet on Thursday, May 8.  Entering the meet, the varsity team was seeded fifth.  The Wolves scored 98 points to take second place.  The JV team also placed 2nd.  Minooka won the meet on both levels.  The Wolves boasted 10 All-Conference Athletes:

On top of the great performances, the team scored points in nearly every event. 

Varsity Takes 2nd, JV wins Glenbard North Weber Invite

On Friday, May 2, the Oswego East Girls Track and Field Team placed 2nd at the Glenbard North Weber Invitational.  Glenbard North won the meet, with 105 points.  OEHS was second with 90.5, followed by Neuqua Valley (89), Downers Grove North (72), and Lockport (72).  Waubonsie Valley (52.5), Benet (46), and Rolling Meadows (31) rounded out the eight-team field. 


Oswego East received a 1st-place finish from the 4x200 relay of Nicole Buado, Sade Akinfe, Sajela Harlow, and Morgan Harris.  Morgan Harris went on to win the 200 meter dash in 26.44.  Morganne Jones took 2nd in the high jump (5'0") and the 100 meter hurdles (16.32), Sade Akinfe placed 2nd in the long jump (16'9.5"), Tara Schumacher took 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles (49.63), and Morgan Harris placed 2nd in the 100 meter dash (12.82) and 3rd in the long jump (16'7.5").  Rachel Roschi was 4th in the 300 meter hurdles (51.11).  Michelle Borycki (5:28.49) and Abby Cain (5:29.72) placed 5th and 6th in the 1600 meter run.  Nicole Buado placed 5th in the 200 meter dash (27.95).  Emily Flammersfeld placed 5th in the triple jump (31'0"). 


In JV competition, the Wolves placed 1st with 109.5 points.  First-place finishes by Tara Schumacher in the 100 meter hurdles (17.89), the 4x200 relay of Adriana Rodriguez, Jade Wiggins, Leta Vo, and Maya Taylor (1:54.93), Emma McCullough in the 400 meter dash (1:04.75), Maya Taylor in the 200 meter dash (28.18), and Destinee Lewis in the high jump (4'8") solidified the win for the Wolves. 


The Wolves will compete on Thursday, May 8 at the SPC Conference Meet at Plainfield North High School. 



Varsity 4x200 Relay Leads OEHS to Sixth Place at OEHS Invitational

On Saturday, April 19, the Oswego East Girls Track and Field team took on 14 visiting teams and finished 6th at the 5th Annual Oswego East Invitational.  The 4x200 meter relay team of Nicole Buado, Sade Akinfe, Sajela Harlow, and Morgan Harris led the Wolves, finishing first with a time of 1:48.04.  Morganne Jones cleared 5'6 in the high jump, breaking her own school record and placing second.  The 4x800 relay of Alexis Henz, Abby Cain, Madison Boissiere, and Ashley Buado finished third with a season best time of 10:14.05.  The 4x400 relay of Ashley Buado, Madeline Timken, Madison Boissiere, and Sajela Harlow placed fourth in 4:17.89.  Mollie Karasch placed fourth in the 3200 meter run in a personal best time of 12:14.98.  Tara Schumacher and Rachel Roschi finished fifth and sixth in the 300 meter hurdles.  Sade Akinfe and Brooke Marshall placed second and third in the long jump, and Cassidy Osborne-Butler placed fifth in the shot put and sixth in the discus throw as well. 


OEHS Celebrates 13 Senior Athletes!

We would like to acknowledge our thirteen seniors for all that they have meant to the program throughout the past four years.  We thank our athletes, as well as their parents, for their dedication, devotion, and countless hours of time spent in and around track and field.

Morganne Jones and Sade Akinfe Compete and Illinois Prep Top Times!

March 1, 2014--Plainfield South Cougar Invitational

The Wolves had another great performance at Plainfield South on Saturday, March 1, 2014.  In the Varsity team race, Oswego East edged host Plainfield South for the title with 64 points.  Plainfield South took second with 61, followed by Downers Grove South with 28.  In the JV team race, OEHS placed second to Neuqua Valley by one point, 49-48.  Plainfield South was third with 43. 


In Varsity competition, Morganne Jones won the 55 meter hurdles and high jump.  Sade Akinfe won the long jump.  Michelle Borycki won the 3200 meter run, with teammate Mollie Karasch finishing in second.  Abby Cain won the 1600 meter run, with Alexis Henz finishing in third.  Both the 4x800 relay (Mari McDowell, Ashley Buado, Alexis Henz, Abby Cain) and the 4x400 relay team (Ashley Buado, Madison Boissiere, Mari McDowell, Sajela Harlow) placed second.  Brittany Davis was third in the shot put, Nicole Buado was third in the 55 meter dash, and Mari McDowell was third in the 400 meter dash. 


In JV competition, Brooke Marshall won the long jump and Emma McCullough won the 400 meter dash.  Adriana Rodriguez was second in the 55 meter dash and third in the 200 meter dash.  Jahani Pittman was third in the high jump, Brittany Stemmons placed third in the long jump, Sarah Balla placed third in the 3200 meter run, and Nicole Bennett was third in the 800 meter run. 


The Wolves race again next Saturday, March 8, at Batavia High School.  Great job, ladies! 


February 22, 2014--Glenbard South Indoor Quad

The Oswego East Girls Track and Field Team had an impressive showing at the first indoor meet of the season on February 22, 2014.  On the varsity level, OEHS placed first of the four teams with 86 points.  They topped Cary-Grove (57), Jacobs (33) and Glenbard South (32).  Highlighting the competition were outstanding performances by junior Morganne Jones and freshman Cassidy Osborne-Butler.  Jones bettered he own school record by jumping 5'4" in the high jump.  Osborne-Butler threw the shot put 38'6.5" in her first high school competition.  Oswego East also got wins from Sade Akinfe (long jump), Morganne Jones (55 hurdles), and Morgan Harris (400 meter dash).  Harris was joined by Ashley Buado and Sajela Harlow to sweep the top 3 spots in the 400 meter dash.   Adoara Onyeabo and Sade Akinfe placed second and third in the 200 meter dash.  Madison Boissiere and Alexis Henz placed second and third in the 800 meter run.  Nicole Buado and Sade Akinfe placed second and third in the 55 meter dash.  Brooke Marshall placed third in the long jump, while Brittany Davis placed third in the shot put. 


In JV competition, the Wolves placed second.  Cary-Grove took first place with 79 points, followed by OEHS with 52, Jacobs with 38, and Glenbard South with 21.  Shara Cassel won the 55 meter dash and was third in the 200 meter dash.  Katy Rheiner won the shot put, while Diondria Woodhouse won the 400 meter dash.  Rachel Roschi was second in the long jump.  Diamond Malone-Scales was third in the 55 meter dash.  Sarah Balla was second in the 1600, and Viviana Felix was second in the 800 meter run. 


Great job on a fantastic first meet of the season!  The Wolves are back in action on Saturday, March 1 at Plainfield South.
